The Body Remembers What the Mind Tries to Forget
Have you ever felt a sudden wave of fatigue that no amount of sleep could fix? Or a chronic tightness in your shoulders that persists despite massages? Our bodies are incredibly honest, even when our minds are trying to be “strong.”
The Language of the Body Unresolved trauma often speaks through physical symptoms. When we suppress painful memories or emotions, they don’t disappear; they migrate. Common “body memories” include:
Hypervigilance: Always scanning the room, unable to relax.
Tension: Chronic pain, especially in the jaw, neck, or pelvic floor.
Digestive Issues: The “gut-brain” connection reacting to constant stress.
Listening as a Path to Peace Instead of seeing these symptoms as “problems” to be suppressed with medication or distraction, we can view them as messengers. Your body is trying to tell you something that your mind isn’t ready to hear yet. When we learn to listen to these sensations with curiosity instead of fear, the body can finally stop screaming and start healing.
