About Me
The Beginning: A Promise Born from Loss
In the spring of 1993, my mother was in a hospital bed dying. Like most women of her generation, she did not work and never was able to realize her true potential. Sitting with her as she slowly slipped away changed the course of my life and my career.
In the quiet days after her passing, I made a promise: to dedicate my life to helping others fulfill their God-given potential and live the kind of meaningful, connected life that had eluded her.
Eighteen days later, I facilitated my first three-day healing and empowerment workshop with thirteen participants.
What happened in that room was unforgettable — people released pain, reclaimed hope, and experienced freedom that came from true emotional release.
That first workshop became the foundation for all the work I do today.
The Work: From Clinical Practice to Conscious Healing
Since becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in 1984, I’ve dedicated over four decades to trauma recovery and emotional healing.
My early work focused on clinical therapy, guiding individuals through grief, abuse, and loss — but through thousands of hours in the therapy room, I realized that real healing doesn’t happen through intellect alone.
It begins when we reach the emotional core of our pain and allow what’s been buried to be released.
Over the years, I have facilitated hundreds of experiential trauma recovery workshops with thousands of participants, many within inpatient and residential treatment settings.
Again and again, I’ve witnessed the same transformation: when people face their deepest wounds in a safe space, they find freedom, strength, and renewed purpose.
With my partner and co-founder of the Antonio Project (antonioproject.com) Luz Stella Cardenas (luzstellacardenas.com) we are committed to making the world a better place by healing and empowering one life at a time.
The Integration: Where Science Meets Spirit
My professional path has included roles as a clinical and executive director, university instructor, management consultant, newspaper columnist, and expert witness in cases of child sexual abuse.
These roles grounded me in science and structure — but the deeper wisdom came through experience.
I learned that healing is multidimensional.
Science provides understanding.
Spirit gives it meaning.
Together, they open the door to transformation.
Today, my work integrates psychology, emotional release, sound therapy, and spiritual awareness, offering individuals a path to self-discovery and peace through workshops, online programs, and one-on-one guidance.
The Mission: Guiding Others Toward Wholeness
Helping others heal isn’t just my profession — it’s my calling.
Every story I witness, every moment of release, reminds me that no pain is wasted and no heart is beyond restoration.
Through Journey Trauma Recovery, Antonio Project, and my therapy practice, I continue to create spaces where healing becomes possible — where people can return home to themselves.
Healing is not about fixing what’s broken.
It’s about remembering who you truly are.
